| Honor Band Update |
|
by Bill Adam
I hope all of you are having a good semester. Already nearly four weeks gone by. As I get older I notice the school years seem to "get shorter" or at least go by faster. Tim Smith is still a go for the 2009 honor band and is looking forward to working with the high school band again. I received a reply from Bob Ponto today and he has us down on his calendar for 2010. Those who requested the music for purchase, it has been sorted and will be in the mail hopefully by early next week. All parts are in the sets, however, there are some originals missing but copies are in the folder to cover the part. If any of your students still have the music, please send the originals to me so I can get them to those who purchased the music. REFUND CHECK/RECEIPTS: I have those and will have time this weekend to get them out to you. I apologize for the delay, but I took a couple weeks off from honor band stuff and am now cleaning up the final details. MISSING PERCUSSION: Here is a message from Grant Parker. If any of your students picked any of these items by mistake, could you please notify me or Grant. We would appreciate it.
I want to thank Mario for his help with the percussion and getting that section organized. I also want to thank all of you who help with the live audition. The last few years we have been concluding the auditions quicker and then get to spend a little more time in reading through the music. Also, thank you to those who were brave enough to face the band with a completely new piece in front of you. I have really enjoyed organizing the band these past 10 years and a large part of that is because we have a great group of directors who are committed to seeing that their students get a chance to participate in this fine band. And because of that commitment you help to ensure that this is a successful event. And I know that the next band rep will the continued support of the Cap Section high school directors. Enjoy the rest of the year and I'll see you around the circuit in the fall. Bill Adam |
